In Loving Memory of Khloe
Khloe passed away at the age of 10, leaving behind a house that’s a little quieter and a family that will miss her every day.
Ten years ago, we found Khloe at the Endless 301 Yard Sale. We had no idea that little white dog would become such a big part of our lives. From that day on, she was home.
She always had an attitude….there had to be some Chihuahua in her. Out of our three dogs, she was the smallest, but she was always the protector. She was the first one to bark, never the first to hide, and she always acted like she was the biggest dog around.
That fearless personality got her into trouble more than once. Three years ago, Khloe was attacked by her cousin, Khalessi, and lost half her jaw. Ironically, the dog whose bark had always been worse than her bite no longer had much of a bite at all. Somehow, she adapted and kept going. If anything, that experience made her calmer, sweeter, and even more affectionate.
As if that wasn’t enough, Khloe also survived being bitten by a snake on two different occasions. She always seemed to find trouble, but she always found her way through it.
She loved going on hikes, although she rarely finished one. She would eagerly lead the way down the trail, but by the time it was time to head back, she was ready to be carried the rest of the way. She never seemed to mind letting someone else do the work.
Khloe is survived by her canine siblings, Ginger, age 14, who surprisingly outlived her, and Duke, age 5. She was recently diagnosed with diabetes(apparently it runs in the family)but her fighting spirit never changed.
Khloe wasn’t just a dog. She was family. She was stubborn, fearless, funny, and loyal. She kept watch over the house, announced every visitor, and somehow always found a way to be the center of attention. She filled our home with laughter, frustration, and unconditional love. The little dog with the biggest attitude leaves behind countless memories and an empty spot that can never be filled.
Now our little white dog can rest high on that mountain. We’ll miss you.
